Today I want to talk about two Rock & Roll bands with strong Blues and Soul influence background. This is important due to the fact that Blues is the root of Rock & Roll.
The Doors’ self titled debut album, The Doors is heavily influenced by the Blues. One of the interesting facts is that they use organ in their music. To me, this particular track called “Break on through (to the Other Side)” stands out because it starts with unpredictable organ solo with cymbals sounds. While the bass keeps up with all the rest of the sounds and never delay or go faster than the others. Once again during the bridge of the song, organ makes odd tunes. The time structure of this song is 4/4

The Rolling Stones started out as Rthyme & Blue and Soul cover rock band. Especially in their early stage with Brian Jones who even opposed the idea of making their own music and hoped for the band to stay as the Blue cover band. This song is called “Time is on my side.” This is also cover song that Rolling Stones did. Instead of starting out with organs like the original cover, it starts out with Keith Richard’s guitar riff which is significant; because they are Rock & Roll band so they would prefer using guitar sounds rather than tradition organ sounds that create the essence of sound in Blues. This is the great thing about the Rolling Stones because they makes blue into their own Rock and Roll music
